Here are some comments from some of the group:
"Two days in, I am tremendously excited by the whole charrette process and
the way it is being managed by Andres Duany. He is a superb facilitator and
project manager and a natural-born teacher. The way he is "connecting" both
the SCPT and members of the public who are participating in the charrette is
very involving and a tremendous learning experience in group creativity. The
guy's ability to engage other people, pose options, suggest new ideas and
take in the ideas of the public -- the best analogy I can think of is that
watching him at work is like opening a bottle of really great champagne.
The people who wrote the Tsawwassen General Plan should be at these meetings
in order to learn how a public process SHOULD work to engage people and
bring out the best ideas of everyone."
John Barr SCPT
"This is indeed an awesome and humbling experience. There are a mind boggling
array of aspects and variables to be considered in order to get the optimal
outcome for all who will eventually live on the Southlands, as well as the
immediate neighbours, the rest of Tsawwassen, the farmers, all who visit or
attend educational programs and, not to forget, the animals and birds.
A week is looking like a pretty short time in which to consider all aspects
and come up with some plans that will inspire the community with their
elegance in addressing the many different "problems" and concerns that will
inevitably be raised.
Here's to all involved as we pull together to reach solutions."

The barn was full this morning as the DPZ design team and other consultants listened to presentations on soil, hydrology, drainage, local archaeological issues and Pacific Flyway habitat. It was a very informative morning. Here is a brief movie showing some photos a small video clips that can give an idea of what was happening. Hope to see you tonight!......

The following is a photo slideshow of a regional tour with architects and planners from DPZ. The group toured regions of Ladner and Tsawwassen to get a sense of history, geography and housing form.
May 5 Cont. - The Scpt and the DPZ design team and the rest of the consulting group all met and introduced themselves at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn this evening.
